Ready, Set, Go!
Our showrooms are all set for the upcoming shows.
With 18 different new looks coming out of our latest showroom reset, it’s not easy to feature just one. But we at Melrose decided this was a “golden opportunity” to feature Golden Birch, one of the hot new trends for 2013.
“Urban melds with nature for this contemporary, upscale style,” our trend expert, Joey Porwoll of Joey Studio Inc., explains. “Birch textures in combination with golden and bronze finishes will dress up familiar holiday favorites. Owls will continue to be strong and will be front and center in this collection. We’re also forecasting that concrete gray and ochre will be other strong colors, adding a fashion twist and an urban vibe. Patterns like chevron and branch prints will continue to be strong as part of this trend.”
In our showrooms, we used Golden Birch to create three different looks. These include a casual lantern tree, which gives a sense of warmth; a formal tree, which uses beaded flowers and offers class and elegance; and an exotic display, which features a brown and black zebra print for that slightly nontraditional look.
“Golden Birch blends raw materials with golden glitter,” says Melrose’s lead designer, Ken Fetgatter, AIFD. “Utilizing rich golds, amber and golden browns, this look gives retailers a lot of options and flexibility in creating their displays.”
Fetgatter adds this tip for retailers when making their display: “When setting a room I think it’s important to start with a plan. Decide what is most important and make sure it’s up front, center stage. Color can add great impact and used properly can create and stimulate sales.”

We are also excited about our expanded Dallas showroom, which has nearly doubled in size. This allows for more room for customers, products and displays.
Included in the expansion and update are a snack bar, a customer checkout lounge and an expanded entryway. The new atmosphere streamlines the entire customer experience, which also got a face-lift at the summer shows when the new iPad ordering system was implemented.
